Africa

Why this unit?

The course of European and American history has been greatly influenced by African history, and vice versa. The history of Africa is intertwined with our own, and Africa's contributions to world culture cannot be ignored. Africa today offers a case study in many of the worst social problems facing mankind – how do we end warfare? How do we stop ethnic violence? How can we prevent the spread of AIDS? How do we help modernize poorer countries?
