TAI CHI SITES
Whether you're centering your mind or bashing heads, Tres Navarre recommends tai chi, an ancient Chinese martial art that is sometimes diluted into a slow form of exercise, but when done well has serious self-defense potential as well as great health benefits. Tres Navarre sez: "The only good short form is for taxes."
Tai chi resources page. An excellent starting place for information
about tai chi and links to just about every important tai chi site on the
web.
Horacio Lopez's
Homepage. One of the only tai chi sifus in San Antonio, he's got the
right credentials.
Tom Gohring's
School of Tai Chi. A good tai chi resource for you Norteño practitioners
up in Austin.
SITES FOR THE ASPIRING MEDIEVALIST
After getting his Ph.D. in medieval literature from Berkeley, Tres Navarre went straight into bartending, then some shady investigative work for Terrence & Goldman in San Francisco. Still, he keeps up with his favorite medieval sites. There's nothing like a little Chaucer from six hundred years ago to put some perspective on the problems of a modern-day gumshoe.
Labyrinth Library of Middle English texts. Iwis, rede ye heer of English storyes auld and learned.
Geoffrey Chaucer home page. A great page about Geoffrey C., the big daddy of English poetry.
Corpus of Middle English texts. I thought for a minute this site was about all that Middle English that gets read in Corpus Christi over Spring Break, but no. The site's pretty cool anyway.
The Canterbury Tales project. Interesting project that brings the original Chaucer manuscripts to digital form. I can't make heads or tails of the writing personally, but the pictures sure are pretty.

ROBERT JOHNSON'S NAMESAKE
It's no accident Tres Navarre's cat is named Robert Johnson. Tres is a blues fiend, and Mr. Johnson, a father of the blues, started his recording career in San Antonio in 1936. Below are some sites about the original RJ and the blues in Texas.
