TRES NAVARRE’S FAVORITES

TAI CHI SITES

Whether you’re centering your mind or bashing heads, Tres Navarre recommends tai chi, an ancient Chinese martial art that is sometimes diluted into a slow form of exercise, but when done well has serious self-defense potential as well as great health benefits. Tres Navarre sez: “The only good short form is for taxes.”

SITES FOR THE ASPIRING MEDIEVALIST

After getting his Ph.D. in medieval literature from Berkeley, Tres Navarre went straight into bartending, then some shady investigative work for Terrence & Goldman in San Francisco. Still, he keeps up with his favorite medieval sites. There’s nothing like a little Chaucer from six hundred years ago to put some perspective on the problems of a modern-day gumshoe.

ROBERT JOHNSON’S NAMESAKE

It’s no accident Tres Navarre’s cat is named Robert Johnson. Tres is a blues fiend, and Mr. Johnson, a father of the blues, started his recording career in San Antonio in 1936. Below are some sites about the original RJ and the blues in Texas.
